Kalimati Khukuri Attack Incident: 4 Arrested, Including Abhiman Singh Basnet

A group stabbed Hemraj Shahi, a resident of Nepalgunj in Kalimati, Kathmandu. Shahi is undergoing treatment at the Royal Trauma Center in Club Street behind Tarkari Bazaar on September 3 at 2.30 pm. The Metropolitan Crime Branch has arrested Abhiman Singh Basnet from Sitapaila on September 15. Singh is the nephew of gangster Sameer Man Singh Basnet. A team of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police also arrested three young women on September 6 on the charge of being involved in the incident. Among the arrested are Manu Lama and Sania Lama. 

Before this incident, Nepalgunj police had registered a case against the injured Hemraj on the charge of attacking Jane Shah's group (the drug dealers' group) by khukuri.To avenge the khukuri case in Nepalgunj, Jane Shah along with Soman Shrestha alias Chankhe of Sindhupalchowk planned to kill Hemraj. He took a flat in Tikathali, Lalitpur and kept three young women and phished Hemraj through social media.

Hemraj went to Kalimati on September 3 after Manu Lama via the chat on Facebook asked to meet him. Four or five youths who were hiding attacked him with khukuri at him and fled. Police recovered three khukuri from Manu Lama and Sonia. The main accused involved in the khukuri attack are absconding. A police officer involved in the investigation said that Abhiman Singh Basnet had given them the protection.
