Three foreigners arrested on charge of trafficking Rohingya refugees to Kathmandu

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB)  arrested three foreigners on the charge of human trafficking the Rohingyas refugees in Kathmandu. The CIB received information that the Rohingyas were brought in to Nepal by human trafficking. Among the arrested were 27-year-old Nurul Amin from Myanmar, currently living in Budhanilkantha-11 Kapan in Kathmandu, 27-year-old Shofiq Alam and 30-year-old Ajmat Ullah.

In the first week of September, 14 Rohingya from the Bangladesh refugee camp arrived in Kathmandu. According to police, the victims were under the impression that once they arrived in Nepal, they would be given an identity card and a stipend to travel to the United States. According to Superintendent of Police Mahato, the accused also told the victims that men would be paid Rs 5,750 per month, women Rs 3,750, and children Rs 2,750. Fourteen people were ready to visit Nepal after being assured of a variety of amenities.
