Chandeshwar Thakur, the Crop Development Officer of Bideha Municipality of Dhanusha was allegedly assaulted by Mayor Bechan Das at his office on September  24. Thakur was beaten by locals Shatrudhan Rai and Angad Rai under the direction of Mayor Das. According to Thakur, he was also kicked by Mayor Das.

According to Thakur, the programs including distribution of bean seedlings, boring connection, fire engine distribution, herd construction, training and animal health camp were completed in the last fiscal year. The program cost about 47 lakhs. However, Mayor Das started demanding a 12 lakhs commission for the expenses incurred in the same program. Das then physically assaulted Thakur after he denied the commission.
