Motion of Public Interest at Parliament to Control "Sickle Cell Anaemia"

Kathmandu, "Sickle Cell Anaemia" rog niyantran ka lagi sansad ma sarbajanik mahatwo prastav. July 31, A motion of public interest has been presented at the meeting of legislature-parliament on July 30 in relation to controlling the "Sickle Cell Anaemia" rampant among the Tharu Communities. CA member Gopal Dahit presented the motion of public interest demanding the government to take immediate measures for its control. He further complained that the government had not allocated budget to send experts at the affected area though he had drawn the attention of Prime Minister and Finance Minister on the issue. He demanded that the government supply equipment to test the disease, free medicines and treatment, vaccination and awareness programs. Dahit further said that this motion was presented as the people had no [access to] health facilities [through] the Interim constitution of Nepal 2007 had accepted the right to health as fundamental rights of the people. Backing the motion, CA members Teju Lal Chaudhary, Shiva Lal Thapa, Asha Koirala, and Ram Kumar Rai demanded the government to take the issue seriously. They further said that due to the lack of equipment to test the disease in hospital, the patients are in a condition to suffer more pain.
