Police arrested nine people from Kathmandu on October 1 on the charge of beating and looting gold chains and purses. The arrested are identified as Anil Magar, 21, of Dang Ghorahi, Surya Budha Magar, 30, of Rukum Taksara, Bishal KC, 25, of Sindhupalchok Thulo Pahad, Yaman Rai, 27, of Morang Belbari, Priya Gurung, 22, of Dharan, Pooja Rai, 21, of Kavre Tamaghat, Susma Karki, 22, of Dhangadhi, Ismi Kunwar, 22, of Chauwas and Suraj Bhattarai, 32, of Kavre Mandandeupur. Ajay Regmi of Gorkha Ajirkot, who was walking on the road near Gongbu Shiva Temple in Kathmandu on September 30, was beaten and robbed of a gold chain around his neck and a purse containing cash, police said.
