Police in Janakpur has been accused of physically assaulting Rajkumar Sada, a 28-year-old Dalit man of Janakpurdham sub-metropolitan-14, in police custody. The victim's side claimed that Sada was assaulted by SI Chandankumar Singh in an inhuman way just because he belonged to the Dalit community.
According to the victim, he paid Rs.95,000 to the local agent Ramhridaya Yadav, about 4 years ago for foreign employment. But the company in Bahrain where he worked was closed after 2 months. The victim claimed that he returned after 2 months from Bahrain, so he asked for the money back from the agent and instead of helping Sada, the police arrested Saad and tortured him.
Sada, who was injured in the police's assault, was admitted to a local Samar Hospital for treatment. But due to lack of money, he has been forced to return home. Sada's brother Bijay Sada has lodged a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) seeking justice and compensation for Rajkumar's inhumane treatment and torture. Similarly, they have also filed a petition demanding justice and action against SI Singh and they have also requested the District Administration Office, Dhanusha and the District Police Office to provide Rs.95,000 from the agent who scammed Sada.
