Landslide Victims Await Relief

Sankhuwasabha,3 din bite pani pahiro piditle rahat payenan. Sankhuwasabha/ August 6 More than 55 families of Syabun-3 and Hadikharka have been displaced due to the landslide on the night of August 4. The displaced families have complained that they have not received any relief till now. One of the landslide victim Bam Bahadur Koirala complained that the government officials came in a helicopter and visited the place for just 30 minutes and went back neglecting them. The displaced persons have been kept temporarily at the local's house in Bhirkuna village and Chinkhuwa lower secondary school of Jaljala-7. Chief District Officer Nanda Kishore Tripathi said that the landslide hit area is not in a condition to live in. The initiation for their relocation and relief has been initiated, according to him. The relief package to the victims will start once the team of district technical office, veterinary, soil conservation and agriculture development office submit their report. The families at high risk have been shifted to the safe area by the administration, however they are facing difficulties for food and lodging. Rescue for natural disaster for the displaced families have started, said local Pushpa Koirala. Only seven bodies out of 10 have been recovered yet. Three people are still missing.
