Tukraj Shrestha, a 25-year-old resident from Tanahun died at a Rehab Center named 'Way of Leaving Drugs and Alcohol' in Budhanilkantha-Kathmandu on the midnight of November 10. The family had admitted Shrestha three days earlier to the rehab center to make him alcohol-free.
Manisha Shrestha, sister of the deceased blamed the rehab center for murdering her brother. She said " I was informed by the rehab center only after the death of my brother. He was taken to Metro Hospital in Maharajgunj after he died in rehab. My brother was murdered at midnight. It should be investigated properly." The family blamed the rehab proprietor to have tortured their son by tying and giving electric shocks. The injury marks are seen on the legs, eyes, and forehead of the dead body. Post mortem report is yet to come out.
The deceased family has filed a complaint against the rehab at Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj. However, the police have not started the investigation process saying to be waiting for the post mortem report.
Tukraj is an ex Nepali army from Ghiring rural municipality in Tanahun. The family admitted Shrestha to the rehab center for six months for a fee amounting to 3.12 lakhs. According to Manisha, they had already paid 2 lakhs of the total fee.
