The villagers assaulted an NEA worker who had gone to control a power leak in Siraha's Sakhuwanankarkatti Rural municipality-3 of Sarahanchiraya with 13 security personnel. The leakage control team arrived in Sarahanchiraya village around noon on November 30, seizing five locals and five vehicles involved in power theft from Mahadeva and Gadhiya villages.
According to Jitendra Yadav, chief engineer of the Nepal Electricity Authority Lahan Distribution Center, three of the 14 people were injured, including the field in-charge Prakash Narayan Chaudhary. According to Engineer Yadav, the two were sent home for treatment after suffering minor injuries, but Chaudhary was transferred to Biratnagar for further treatment on December 2 morning due to serious neck injuries.
The villagers also smashed the pickup van's glass and stole Rs 20,000 from the in-charge Chaudhary for field expenses. Employees' gold chains were stolen, and their phones were vandalized. Similarly, they seized the five locals and five motorcycles detained by the control team.
