A man has been beaten and stabbed to death on the bank of Hanumante river in Balkot, Suryabinayak municipality-3 of the Bhaktapur district on Tuesday night. The victim has been identified as Rajan Shrestha (33), a resident of the same area.
Inspector Lok Bahadur GC, the spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Range in Bhaktapur, says a preliminary investigation revealed he was murdered while he was going home after parking his car in Gaththaghar of the district at around 9:45 pm yesterday.
As local labourers saw him beaten and stabbed, they rescued Shrestha and took him to the nearby Madhyapur Hospital, but the hospital declared him dead upon arrival, according to Shrestha. Police have arrested two persons in connection with the case. Further investigation is underway.

According to the police, Shrestha was beaten to death on the pretext of a normal transaction saying that the murder was not due to political reasons. According to the police, the incident took place over the dispute over Rs. 2 lakhs. The man was found dead on Wednesday in a vacant lot near Balkot in Suryabinayak Municipality-2.
