Ram Bahadur Damai alias Saney, a 71-year-old resident of Likhutamakoshi Rural Municipality-4 of Ramechhap has been found dead. He had gone missing from a small road after returning from a wedding in Bijulikot on November 29. He was found dead in Likhutamakoshi Gaonpalika-4 Choprang on December 7, nine days after his disappearance. The family suspect that he might have been murdered and thrown away. They even demanded to investigate the matter and bring the victim to justice.
Tilak Damai alias Julfe and Bire Damai alias Thulkanchha had taken Saney to play the baja at the wedding. Julfe had given the responsibility of Saney to Thulkanchha. Thulkanchha said that he had to go to the toilet on the way and asked Sane to stay on the road for a while.
Thulkanchha said that he returned home thinking that Saney was not there when he returned from the toilet. The family has expressed doubts over Thulkanchha's statement after Saney was found dead. Sane Damai's nephew Deepak says that not bringing the 71-year-old man home has also raised suspicions.
Chief of the District Police Office, Ramechhap, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Nawaraj Dhungana told Kathmandu Press that further investigation could be carried out only after receiving the report that the body of the deceased had been sent to Teaching Hospital for postmortem.
