Water flow in Saptakoshi increases; 33 sluice gates opened

Inurwa, saptkoshi ma paani pravah badhyo,33 berrage ka dhoka haru kholiye. INARUWA: Water flow in the Saptakoshi River has increased due to incessant rainfall in the eastern hill and Tarai districts. As per the measure taken at 9:15 am today, the River has a flow of 254,235 cusec, said Chief of the Koshi Barrage Control Room, Shukanandan Singh. It was 205,630 at 9:00 pm on Saturday, he added. The red light was displayed at the barrage to indicate danger with the rise in the flow of water in the River. Out of 56 sluice gates of the barrage, 33 are kept open to release the water, said District Police Office, Sunsari. The River has not eroded or inundated land and settlements despite the rise, according to authorities.
