Youths and students have agitated in Nuwakot demanding timely local elections. The main opposition party CPN-UML's National Youth Association Nepal and ANNFSU have jointly staged a torch rally protesting against the government at Ratmate in Velkotgadhi Municipality in the southern part of Nuwakot.

Youths and students have also burned the effigy of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba in the torch rally organized by the National Youth Association of  Belkotgadhi Municipal Committee and ANNFSU Belkotgadhi Municipal Committee. Demonstrations chanting slogans against the government had turned into a corner rally by circling Mahadevphant Bazaar at Belkotgadhi-7.
