River Overseas Pvt. Ltd which has been operating at Jumre bazaar as a branch office of Kathmandu-based ‘The River Overseas’ took large sums of money from youths on the pretext of providing them better job opportunities in Gulf countries. It is estimated that they have been cheating local youths for the past one-and-a-half-year. Prakash Bartaula of Kathmandu-based River Overseas office said they did not have any branch office in Pyuthan. “The River Overseas in Kathmandu has no affiliation with the so-called overseas operating at Jumre bazaar of the district,” he said. He requested the concerned authority to take action against the illegal company if it has been operating in the name of the Kathmandu-based office. Meanwhile, Sushil Sunuwar, who has been operating the company at Jumre bazaar, claimed they had taken permission to operate a contact office in Jumre bazaar from the Dang office. “We have been operating the contact office after getting permission from Dang,” he added. Locals demanded that the concerned authority take action against the company for defrauding the locals youths in the name of foreign employment, and also for raising their hopes high.
