2022-04-01

Dissidents have padlocked the Nepali Congress party office in Bara, accusing it of rigging the vote count of district District Working Committees.

Leaders and cadres of the party led by incumbent president Jayachandra Chaurasia and newly elected vice president Manoj Bhatt padlocked the party office, accusing the newly elected president Rajesh Ray Yadav's group of  rigging breaking the lock of the ballot box on Thursday night and in order to rigg the Working Committees Members' election in favour of his group.

A total of 491 ballot papers were found in four ballot boxes in Constituency No. 4 during the counting of votes of 43 District Working Committees of the municipality during the 14th District Convention of Nepali Congress Bara. But during the counting of votes of the members of the district level working committee of Constituency Nos. 1, 2 and 3 was completed, the candidates from the Yadav group elected as the district chairperson were trailing by one vote.

Bhatta, the newly-elected vice-president, demanded re-polling in Constituency No. 4, where more ballot papers were found than the number of votes cast.
