Saptari, Badi le Hajarau ghar bisthapit Around 1,000 houses were inundated in Tilathi, Sakarpura, Launiyan, Rampura, Malhaniya, among other VDCs in Saptari district after the Indian side unilaterally constructed a dam near Tilathi. Around 300 houses in Wards 2, 3, and 4 are inundated due to flood following the incessant rainfall in the district, said Niraj Jha, a local. The settlements in the VDCs were inundated after the flood water in Jitakhola and Khandokhola streams could not find any outlet following the dam construction from the Indian side, said locals Dev Narayan Yadav, another local from Tilathi. Yadav complained that the government did not pay any heed to resolve the problem though the Indian side constructed dam blocking the outlet of the river water.
