Human rights activists, law professionals in the district have complained that the state has failed to offer minimum human treatment to the detainees and convicts kept in the custody after being arrested by police.
They made such complain at a program organized by Nepal Bar Association Jhapa branch. Senior advocate Lila Sapkota, Lila Udasi, advocates Lekhnath Niraula, Hemkala Kattel, Arjun Basent of INSEC, Bhim Baral of Advocacy Fourm said that the inmates were not treated inhumanely, no arrest warrant was given to them when detained in the forest office and inmates were detained more than the jail's capacity. They also drew the attention of the government towards the dilapidated condition of the jail building.
