Teacher beats up 6yo girl for no homework

A school teacher beat up a six-year-old student black and blue for failing to do homework at a private school in Pokhara on Thursday. Jyoti Thapa, teacher of the Good Shepherd English School, Kajipokhari, thrashed the girl student, charging that she did not complete her assignments. The teacher was fired from her job today after guardians staged a protest against her. The victim's uncle, Anil BK, said his niece received several bruises on her body parts. Talks held between the protesting guardians and the school management also agreed to waive all school fees for the victim upto grade X and bear the expenses for her treatment, according to Mohan Ratna Shakya, founder of the school. He added that the school is committed not to let happen such an incident in future. During the talks, teacher Thapa had tried to defend her action, but confessed that she inflicted corporal punishment on the child, said Shakya. A local resident, who took part in the talks, said the teacher, however, was reluctant to quit. Thapa is a daughter of the school principal Laxmi Thapa. Meanwhile, some guardians have complained that the school staff repeatedly beat up their kids in the past also. They have also demanded that the principal stepped down from the post.
