Cadres of Nepali Congress padlocked district party office and Nepali Congress's working committee office in Gorkha on April 25, over disagreement in mayoral candidature. The cadres agitated in Gorkha after the Nepali Congress's Gandaki Pradesh Parliamentary Committee decided to make Bishwadev Shrestha the party's official candidate for the post of Gorkha Municipality's mayor.

The agitated cadres demanded that that the party should select a candidate who can challenge the opponent party. Likewise, Bishwadev Shrestha claimed that he was physically assaulted by the party's cadres and sustained injury on his hand.
