One arrested for threatening election officer in Pokhara

Police arrested Ashok Khadka, General Secretary of Baikalpik Youth Organization on the charge of threatening officials of the Chief Election office in Pokhara on May 1. In a complaint lodged by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, action as per the Election Offenses and Punishment Act 2073 BS was demanded against Khadka. DSP Tiwari said that a request has been made to take action as per sub-section 1 (d) of section 20 of the said act.  

Misdemeanors and punishments affecting the election paragraph state that the election official or staff should not be intimidated, or threatened in a way that affects them. According to the law, if found guilty, Khadka could face a fine of Rs 100,000 or imprisonment for up to one year or both.

Ashok Khadka, was agitated after he was not assigned the stick as their election symbol. He posted threatening messages and also verbally stated that he would  target to physically assault the election officials if his demand is not met on social media.
