Police arrested the father of 17-year-old girl who was the victim of attempted rape, in Ilam on May 7, for murdering 34-year-old Dipak Dhungana, a bus driver and an accomplice in the rape attempt.

According to the police, the deceased driver played the role of accomplice in the rape attempt of the victim by taking the vehicle to a lonely area after other passengers got off the bus. The girl was waiting for her father in the bus. The conductor of the bus tried to rape her while she was waiting for her father in the bus in Ilam municipality-7 of Ilam on May 3. The victim was returning to Ilam from Kathmandu. 

After the victim told her father about the incident, the father of the victim physically assaulted the driver Dhungana, a resident of Tarkeshowr rural municipality-2 of Nuwakot for helping the accused to rape her daughter. The bus driver lost his life on May 7 while undergoing medical treatment. Police have started investigation into the incident by arresting the victim's father and the accused conductor.
