Cadres of CPN (Maoist Center) staged a demonstration in Hariwan Bazar of Sarlahi alleging that the cadres of the opposition party poisoned the sweets consumed by the cadres and candidate of ward chairperson of Hariwan Municipality Maoist Center of Sarlahi on May 8. According to Central Committee Chairman Arjun Pant of Hariwan CPN (Maoist Center), Sheik Estihar, a candidate for ward chairperson was fed sweet laced with poison on May 7 afternoon during a door-to-door election program. 

Estihar was reffered to Birgunj after undergoing medical treatment in Swabhiman Hospital Hariban. The demonstrators obstructed East-West Highway.
