Cadres of CPN (Maoist Center) have physically assaulted the CPN-UML cadres in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-1 of Makawanpur during election campaign on May 9. CPN-UML cadres Suraj Bal, Buddhi Thing, Maila Syangtan were assaulted by the CPN (Maoist Center) cadres. The victims stated that a group of Maoist Center cadres led by Bibai Titung beat them.

Inspector Prakash Poudel of APF's unit deployed in Bakaiya for election security stated that they are aware of the incident and were preparing to deploy security personnel at the site of the incident. Condemning the attack, CPN-UML candidate for the post of Chairperson of Bakaiya Rural Municipality Sarala Bolakhe warned against such activities. Stating that the election should be conducted in a peaceful manner, she said that the anarchists would be brought under legal action.
