Locals of ward 16 in Birgunj Metropolitan city picketed the house of Nepali Congress cadre Binod Chaudhary after mayoral candidate Bijaya Sarawagi came to visit Chaudhary at midnight on Monday. Accusing Sarawagi of trying to distribute money to influence the election, around 200 locals and cadres of the coalition parties held him inside the house for around 2 hours. Police later rescued him. Sarawagi is the mayoral candidate for Birgunj from CPN-UML while coalition of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party have nominated Rajeshman Singh as the mayoral candidate.
