Cadre of CPN (Maoist Center) physically assaulted by over alleged canvassing during silence period in Khotang

Padam Rai, a cadre of CPN (Maoist Center) has been physically assaulted in Tuwachung Municipality-7 Mahadevsthan of Khotang on May 11. Nepali Congress cadres led by Kedar Rai, Nepali Congress chairperson of Tuwachung Municipality-7 have been accused of assaulting Padam. According to Padam, he was physically assaulted by a group of seven people while he was on the way to home from Halesi Bazar.
Nepali Congress Khotang district deputy chairperson and Mayor of Halesi Tuwachung Iwan Rai confessed that Congress cadres had assaulted Padam but he claimed that the victim was appealing for votes during silence period. DSP Umesh Lamsal stated that it was a minor dispute over canvassing for votes during silence period.
