More than 20 persons injured in Dhading as Congress and Maoist Center cadres clash during silence period

More than 20 persons were injured in a clash between cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN-UML in Nilakantha Municipality-6 of Dhading on May 11 night. Nepali Congress ward chairperson candidate Bhupendra Kumar was seriously injured in the incident. He sustained injury on his head, eye, and other parts of his body.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Dhading Hospital. Among others injured in the clash are Tej Kumar Shrestha, Kaviraj Shrestha, Prakash Shrestha, Hari Bahadur Shrestha, Baburam Shrestha, Suman Shrestha, Subba Nepali, Vishnu Kumar Shrestha, Rajkumar Uparkoti, Bhupendra Shrestha, Ramhari Magarati, Rajkumar Shrestha, Vishnukumar Nepali, Gokarna Uparkoti, Laxman Rana, Bivas Rana, Vikesh Rana, Gopi Nepali, Anup Shrestha, Rajkumar Uparkoti according to District Police Office Dhading. Similarly, Anil Shrestha and Bishnu Rana of Maoist Center were also injured.

According to a local eye witness, Nepali Congress and Maoist Center cadres were campaigning even during the silence period of election on Wednesday night. Cadres of the two parties clashed when then suddenly came across each other during campaigning. Both parties have pinned the blame for the clash to the other.
