Police have arrested independent candidate for the post of mayor of Jitpur-Simara Sub-metropolitan city in Bara, Umakanta Kandel on the charge of inciting clash. According to a local Radha Mahato, cadres of CPN-UML clashed with Umakanta's cadres after he verbally attacked a group of women at Shyauli chowk. Kandel is thought to be close to CPN (Maoist Center). UML cadres Shyam Neupane sustained injury in the clash. Area Police Office Simara stated that they are investigating the incident.
