Police fired 3 rounds of warning shots to control the situation following a dispute at the vote counting site in  Deumai municipality of Illam on May 14. The clash ensued a dispute after an employee at the vote counting site was found carrying a voting stamp and a mobile phone. Vote counting was halted after the coalition parties, Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist), and CPN (Maoist Center) cadres agitated and chanted slogans against the election officer and police alleging that they set up a conspiracy during the polling of local level election. Some temporary police were injured in the clash.
