Counting of votes of the local level election was affected due to a clash between cadres of Janata Samajbadi Party and Loktantrik Samajbadi Party in Sonama rural municipality of Mahottari on May 14. According to the election officer, the clash erupted after a dispute regarding whether or not ballot papers with ink marks inside the symbol boxes should be counted as valid.
According to the Election Office, Sonama, the clash took place shortly after the counting began. Only six votes were counted. According to election Officer Deepak Kumar Mishra, an all-party meeting will be held after the situation returns to normal.
