Krisnandan Yadav and his wife Rita Devi alleged that they were physically assaulted by the incumbent ward chairperson of Katahariya municipality-3 of Rautahat Umesh Yadav from Nepali Congress on May 20  after Umesh lost in the local level election. The victims alleged that the accused physically assaulted them because Umesh lost in the local level election. Due to physical assault, Kirshnandan sustained an injury on his head whereas there are several bruises on Rita's body. According to the police, Umesh physically assaulted Krishnandan and his wife over an old dispute. Umesh Yadav denied the allegations of assault.
