CPN-UML cadres along with newly elected ward chairperson of Manthali Municipality-9 Gokarnaraj Aaran and his family were physically assaulted by the Nepali Congress cadres and Nepali Congress ward chairperson candidate Buddhi Bahadur Pulami (Bharat) on May 19 night in Ramechhap. CPN-UML claimed that the cadres of the Nepali Congress physically assaulted them by entering in the CPN-UML's ward office.
Uttam Aaran, son of newly elected ward chairperson Gokarnaraj Aaran, said that the cadres of the Nepali Congress came to assault them on nine motorcycles. Five CPN-UML cadres Gautam Aaran, Uttam Aaran, Omprakash Aaran, Narayan Aaran, and Khadgaraj Aaran were injured in the attack. Newly elected ward chairperson Gokarna Raj Aran said that the CPN-UML attacked them with intention of killing. In Puranagaun, UML's AAran was elected with 550 votes while Congress candidate Pulami Magar was defeated with 516 votes.
