Kathmandu, 11 ma padhne vidhyarthi apharanko panja bata mukti. KATHMANDU, SEP 02 - A family dispute over a financial deal took a nasty turn on Monday morning when an eleventh grader was abducted by five men in Kathmandu . Biren Chhetri (21), a student of Kasthamandap College in Kalanki, was picked up from Swoyambhu by Sushant Pokhrel, 19, and his friends to press his mother to return Rs 500,000 that she had borrowed from the latter’s mother. The abductors, including Pokhrel, had hauled Chhetri into a micro bus that Pokhrel had hired for Rs 6,000. He had planned to take Chhetri to Lele, Lalitpur. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Yagya Binod Pokhrel of Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, Pokhrel was distraught after Chhetri’s mother Mina failed to pay back the loan. In his statement to the police, Pokhrel said his family was facing serious problems and his study was hampered because of the troubled deal. Pokhrel planned to kidnap Chhetri three days ago as his mother was nowhere to be found, police said. In his bid to press Chhetri’s mother by kidnapping him, Pokhrel had asked Tshering Sherpa, 28, of Dolakha; Aswin Adhikari, 23, of Makwanpur; Anup Shrestha, 22, of Lele; and Madhusudan Aryal, 16, of Dhading to assist him in the crime. On Monday morning, Pokhrel hired the van while his friends hauled Chhetri into it. Initially, they had convinced the driver that Chhetri was their friend. But the group later threatened to kill him if he stopped the vehicle. Pokhrel and his gang had to change their route to Nayabazar when the driver said he could not drive along the dirt track of Lele. Meanwhile, the driver took a pee break and called his owner up to inform him about his whereabouts. Police, who had already tracked the owner, ordered him to bring the vehicle back to Sitapaila, where they were nabbed. Police said only Chhetri and Pokhrel were found on the vehicle. The others were arrested later that day.
