Trafficking Victim Rues of Delayed Justice

Rupandehi/ September 2 A 19-year-old woman of Asuraina VDC has complained of delayed justice in the case of her sexual exploitation in India. According to her, she was taken to India on December 2, 2013 by local Binod Yadav, 25, from Shivapur where she was sexually abused for 17 days. She complained that the police was refusing to register her FIR. Police say that her FIR does not support the claim of trafficking and there is no evidence, her legal counciller Shiva Gaudel said. The woman says Yadav had taken her to Mahadei of India with a promise of marriage and that he held her hostage and abused her. She added that she managed to flee to Nepal in the pretext of going to toilet. On December 5, her father had filed an appeal asking to locate her but District Police did nothing except for instructing its subordinate posts, she said. She added that she and her family was facing threats while complaining that instead of arresting the accused, her father was held at the Madhubani Area Police Office custody for the whole day August 12.
