Makawanpur/ September 2 Devaki Subedi, 52, of Hetaunda Municipality-22 has been assaulted by her neighbor Radhika Rijal on September 1 accusing her of being a witch. The incident was prompted by a dispute over filling their water-pots on common tap. Subedi has sustained head injuries for which she was taken to Bharatpur Hospital on the same day. Rijal family had long been charging Subedi as being a witch. Subedi, whose husband is abroad for work, was living with her father-in-law. Her grand-son Manoj Subedi said that the Rijal family would call her witch even during minor disputes. SP Deepak Thapa of District Police Office said that he had already instructed the subordinate police station to detain the accused. He added that only after interrogation, the facts would be known and then they could decide further course of action. Police said that Manoj had verbally complained about the incident at DPO on September 1.
