Ilam/September 3 Bimal Rai, 25, of Danabari VDC-9, Ilam has been awarded 20 years in prison by the Ilam District Court on September 3 for raping a 7-year-old girl. The bench of Prakash Dhungana sentenced 10 years as per 3 (1) of Chapter of Rape of General Code after convicting him under 1 and 2 number provison of the same chapter. He was given another 10 years for the crime also being incest, court registrar Arjun Shrestha said. The court has also order Rai to provide Rs 25,000 to the victim as compensation. The girl was raped on May28 and he was arrested by the police on June 8.
