Police arrested  32-year-old Januka Subedi of Arjudhara-7 in Jhapa, her husband, 49-year-old Brikh Bahadur Thapa aka Binaya and 25-year-old Suresh Pariyar of Baraha Chhetra municipality-10 in Sunsari on the charge of planning and executing the murder of a 40 year old Indian man Japadiya Naresh Kumar Babu Bhai.  Another person accused of being involved in the incident remains to be traced and arrested.

Dead body of the Indian citizen Babu Bhai from Gujarat in India was found inside the Hume-pipe on the evening of June 26 at Arjundhara-4 of Jhapa. As per the police, the initial investigation showed that both Januka and Brikh made the plan to murder Babu Bhaii, after he abused Januka. The husband wife duo, allegedly gave ransom worth 5 lakhs to Suresh and another person (with identity unknown) to murder Kumar. The initial investigation also showed that, Suresh was given 2  lakh rupees and another person was given 1 lakh rupees after the murder.  The police stated that, Kumar was murdered on June 23. 

The police had arrested Kumar two months before on April 17 and submitted to the revenue office fot illicitly holding 49,000 Indian currency. He was released on bail by the revenue office but had to visit the police office on parole. He stayed at Januka's house for three days on May, and came back again on June 24 as he had to give attendance at the police office. He was murdered two days later, after he came back to Januka's house from the police office in Itahari. 

The deceased Kumar and Januka, however had long connection, who met and knew each other since December 2019 when Januka was in New Delhi for work. The deceased also sent dolls and playing materials  to Januka's children on April 2020. Also the investigation showed that deceased had given 5 lakh rupees to help Januka build her home.
