People from the Kirat Rai Yayokkha community picketed the office of the Chief Minister of Province-1 in Biratnagar of Morang on July 18 demanding to name the province "Kirat". The protestors claimed that there was participation in their protest program from all fourteen zones. Citing that province 1 should be named "Kirat" according to the identity of the majority of people living in the province, they chanted various slogans and submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Rajendra Kumar Rai.
