Dambar Bahadur Mahatara, newly elected ward chairperson of Barekot rural municipality-6 from CPN-UML was injured in a Khukuri attack by a local leader of Nepali Congress Abinash Nepali and locals Tekendra Nepali on July 25. The accused pelted stones at the victim and attacked him with Khukuri on his head. According to the police, both accused absconded after the incident. CPN-UML district committee alleged that the assault may have resulted due to feelings of revenge during local level election.
