Deepa Rai, 43, of Bharaul VDC-5 has been seriously injured in a khukuri attack by her husband Dhan Bahadur Rai, 45, in the evening of September 8. Deepa has sustained serious injuries on hand and head and is undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan, Inspector Ram Dhakal of Area Police Office, Mahendranagar informed. Police said Dhan Bahadur attacked her following a minor dispute. Inspecto Dhakal said the husband is absconding since the incident and that the police were searching for him.
