An 18-year-old girl living at Hattiban, has accused the police of negligence into the investigation and arrest of youth who allegedly raped her in Kathmandu.
According to the girl, she was raped by 25-year-old Ishwor Shrestha of Sindhupalchowk at Hotel "Holiday Inn" in Thamel, Kathmandu around one and half months ago. She had filed complaint of rape against Shrestha at Durbarmarg Police following the incident on July 25. But police is yet to arrest the accused who used to reside in Bhaktapur. According to DSP Kopila Chudal, head of Durbarmarg Police Circle, police are investigating the incident but they have been facing difficulty in arresting the accused as he does not carry mobile phone due to fear of being tracked. The victim's health examination was done at Maternity Hospital in Thapathali which showed that she had been raped.
Spokesperson of District Police Circle Kathmandu SP Dinesh Mainali stated that he was not aware of the incident and would take necessary action after finding the details of the incident.
