Abused Girls Taken Into Shelter

A 12-year-old girl, who was repeatedly being sexually abused by her father has been taken into shelter on September 11 in the initiation of District Child Welfare Committee. The girl, decided to leave her home to avoid the abuse four days ago. Her mother is mentally ill and father remains at home due to his poor health. The girl has found refuge at a Children’s home in Biratnagar, District Child Officer Hira Dahal said. Two other girls who were abandoned by their mother have also been admitted at Purwanchal Orphaange in the intiation of the Child Welfare Office. The mother of two girls, both under 2, had come from Kathmandu to her friend Srijana Dulal at Hile Bazaar three months ago. Saying that she would return soon, she left Dulal’s home but never returned. After this, Dulal contacted District Police Office to sort out the issue. Dahal said as they could not find the address of the girls and their mother went out of contact, they had to initate step to find permanent shelter for the girls. S
