RUPANDEHI, Balatkrit kisohri nyaka lagi guhardai. A 17-year-old married girl from a remote Asuraina VDC-6 in Rupandehi district, who was reportedly raped nine months ago, has filed a writ in the Appellate Court in Butwal demanding action against the guilty. The teenager has also accused police of refusing to lodge a complaint against her alleged rapist. “I visited the Area Police Office in Madhubani in India and Rupandehi District Police Office (DPO), seeking justice, but they refused to even register the complaint the man who raped me,” the victim said. She said that her fellow villager Binod Yadav had with the help of one of his friends forcibly taken her to a village in Siddharthanagar district in India on the false promise of marriage and providing her a decent job, but raped her repeatedly for two weeks after keeping her hostage inside a house in an unknown location. The victim said that she was going to her parent’s house when Yadav kidnapped her. She, however, managed to flee her captors one night on the pretext that she wanted to use the toilet . The victim said that she is being pressed by Binod Yadav to settle the case out of court by offering her Rs 50,000. “I want justice, not money,” she said, adding that the District Administration Office’s direction to police to investigate the matter and take action against the guilty has also not been implemented yet. Inspector at the DPO Pradip Chhetri claimed that they refused to lodge the complaint against Yadav as there was no evidence to prove that he had committed the crime.
