Supporters of Dr. Tosima Karki of a candidate from Rastriya Swatantra Party in the upcoming Federal Election staged a demonstration in Kathmandu on October 31 against the decision of the Election Commission to revoke her candidacy. The demonstrators displayed placards in favor of youth in politics. The Election Commission revoked Dr. Karki's candidacy for the seat of constituency number 3 in Lalitpur for the the House of Representatives seat.

The commission revoked Karki's candidature citing that she was holding the post of elected member in the medical council. The commission has defined the post as a post of benefit. It is mentioned in the statement issued by the commission that it was found that although Karki did not receive a monthly salary, she was receiving meeting allowance and other remuneration including monitoring.
