A clash broke out between the cadres of Omprakash Jaiswal, an independent candidate for the House of Representatives election, and Kundan Kushwaha, an independent candidate for the Province Assembly on November 16 night in Rautahat's constituency no-3. Three people were injured in the clash. The clash took place in Katahariya municipality-5 in front of the Shanti Petrol Pump. Police fired 4 rounds of tear gas and 3 rounds of warning shots. 

According to the police, cadres the two candidates ran into a dispute over distributing alcohol to lure voters. After the dispute, cadres from both sides started gathering with the intention of fighting and clashing and although the police tried to prevent a clash with an agreement, the cadres of both sides started pelting stones and pieces of glasses at each other.  3 police sustained minor injuries in the incident.
