ITAHARI, 19 barsa ko mahila mathi samuhik balatkar. A 19-year-old woman was gang-raped inside a truck at Haripur along East-West Highway in Sunsari district on Monday night. Truck driver Ram Yadav, 30, handyman Chandradev Yadav, 19, and one Saroj Kumar Yadav, 18, of Babhangamakatti-4 in Saptari district allegedly raped the victim in the vehicle. The suspects were taken into custody for necessary action. The woman boarded the truck from Rupani to Koshi Barrage as she could not get other public vehicles. The truck was heading to Sunsari from Saptari carrying bricks. The driver did not stop the vehicle at Koshi Barrage and took her forcefully to an isolated place. An Armed Police Force (APF) patrol team rescued the victim as she yelled from the vehicle for help. The APF men caught the perpetrators red-handed and later handed them over to police. Superintendent of Police Amud Alam Khan said an investigation into the matter is under way.
