CC recommends ex-CJ Sharma as NHRC chief

The Constitutional Council (CC) has recommended former Chief Justice Anup Raj Sharma to the vacant post of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairperson . A meeting of the committee on Thursday morning also recommended names of members of the human rights watch-dog. The committee has recommended former Justice Prakash Osti, senior advocate Govinda Sharma Poudel, Sudip Pathak and Mohona Ansari as the members. After the CC recommends eligible candidates for the posts, the names will be forwarded to the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee which will issue a public notice calling for complaints, if any, against the nominations. The human rights watch-dog was running without chairperson and members for almost a year. Besides the NHRC posts, two members of the Public Service Commission are also not appointed. Similarly, at least three posts of commissioners are yet to be filled at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority.
