Gita Kumari Basnet, an Assistant Accountant in Kortang VDC of the district, recently got married with Buddhi Bahadur Basnet of Majhkot-9. The secretary in Kortang VDC, Deep Bahadur GC, dismissed Basnet in the light of potential human resources crunch in the VDC as the latter, who got married with someone from the other VDC, is assumed to call it quit to her workplace after marriage. In Hindu tradition, a girl is supposed to leave behind her clan name apart from her natal home after marriage. Basnet has registered a complaint against Deep Bahadur GC, the secretary of the VDC, in the district administration office on 6 August. "I have been sacked simply because I got married with a man from another VDC," Basnet grieved.
