SAPTARI, SEP 24 - Supporters of CK Raut, who was arrested on September 14 from Morang on the charge of being involved in a secessionist campaign, staged demonstrations in Saptari on the 10th consecutive day on Tuesday, demanding Raut’s release.
As part of the demonstration, the protesters disrupted traffic for one hour in Rajbiraj. Hundreds of students from half a dozen schools in Rajbiraj also participated in the protest. Later, a large number of police personnel were mobilised to clear the road obstruction.
Similarly, the protesters have also staging a sit-in in front of the District Administration Office for the past five days.
On Tuesday, they took out a rally that went through various area of Rajbiraj before converging into a corner meet at Janaandolan Chowk.
Addressing the gathering, Bikash Tiwari, chairman of Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Gajendrabadi), said that right to expression still exists in the country and the government made a mistake by arresting Raut on the charge of expressing his views.
