Saptari/September 27 An unidentified group has torched copies of Kantipur Daily and The Kathmandu Post at Rajbiraj-Bhardaha road section in Mansapur of Bhabhangamakatti VDC-5 on September 27 morning. DSP Kedar Dhakal said that the group took out 3 thousand copies of the newspapers from a pickup van (Ko1Cha 4443) which was coming from Biratnagar and torched them. According to conductor Suresh Chaudhary of the vehicle, the group took mobile phone of the driver Krishna Dhimal and torched the newspapers saying that the dailies did not cover news of the protest carried out demanding released of CK Raut, who has been arrested on charge of treason. SI Manoj Yadav of the Area Police Office Hanumannagar said that search for the accused is ongoing. Federation of Nepali Journalists Saptari condemned the incident issuing a press statement on September 27. It urged concerned agencies to take action against the culprit and ensure safety.
