Youths of Biratnagar Rani Civil Society staged a demonstration on January 30 protesting against the alleged strictness of Biratnagar Custom's strict rules for purchasing goods from the Indian market. The Passenger Branch of Customs implemented strict rules citing a decrease in customs revenue. The demonstrators alleged that the rules implemented by the Customs Office saying that they cannot buy items worth more than 100 rupees from the Indian market without revenue were impractical. The demonstrators demanded to be able to easily bring consumer goods from the Indian market including border crossings.
